Site Information

Site Information is part of the Site Configuration of Drupal where you can change basic site information, such as the site name, slogan, e-mail address, mission, front page and more.

You can find it by going to Administer and then to Site Configuration when you are logged in as an Administrator.

Most of the items are self-explanatory but there are a couple things to be aware of. We'll go through each blank one by one below.

Name

This is where you put the name of the website. What you enter here is used in a variety of places, including the header of your website if you do not use a logo, on the title bar of the viewer's web browser, and in search results as part of the name of your pages. It may also be used in e-mails (such as password requests).

E-mail Address

The From address in automated e-mails sent during registration and new password requests, and other notifications. (Use an address ending in your site's domain to help prevent this e-mail being flagged as spam.)

Slogan & Mission

If you have these turned on in the theme you are using, what you enter here will appear. The slogan typically would be at the top of every page with the name of the site or your site's logo, and the mission typically would be on the front page. How it looks and it's placement will depend on what theme you are using.

Footer Message

This text will be displayed at the bottom of each page. Useful for adding a copyright notice to your pages.

Tip: To get the copyright © symbol, use © in the footer message (or anywhere else you can use HTML).

Anonymous User

For initial setup, just leave this alone. For a new installation it will most likely say "Anonymous" which should not be changed at this point.

Default Front Page

By default, Drupal's home page is set to something called "node" which works like a blog's front page in a way. New "blog posts" and "stories" you enter into Drupal will be listed on the node page, while "pages" will not be. If you want Drupal to behave this way, then leave it as "node."

On the other hand, if you want people to arrive at a page of information and link (more along the line of a traditional website), then you will want to enter the name of the page here. Note that you have to create the page first, so you may have to come back and change this later after you have created the page.

Save Configuration

You must save configuration to save your changes. You can change this as often as you want, so don't be afraid to come back if you need to change something.
